Lenten Post Day 17

Friday, February 25

Jeremiah 5:1-9, Romans 2:25-3:18, John 5:30-47

Q. 39. What is the duty which God requireth of man?

A. The duty which God requireth of man is obedience to his revealed will.

Q. 40. What did God at first reveal to man for the rule of his obedience?

A. The rule which God at first revealed to man for his obedience was the moral law.

Prayer: Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications! If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with you, so that you may be revered. I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope. (Psalm 130:2-5)

Reflection: God freely gives us his love. All he asks in return is we obey his moral laws. But, we do not obey and thus we are all sinners.
