Lenten Post Day 5

Sunday, February 13

Jeremiah 9:23-24, I Corinthians 1:18-31, Mark 2:18-22

Q. 9. What is the work of creation?

A. The work of creation is God’s making all things of nothing, by the word of his power, in the space of six days, and all very good.

Q. 10. How did God create man?

A. God created man male, and female, after his own image, in knowledge, righteousness,  and holiness, with dominion over the creatures.

Prayer: Lord, let all who are faithful offer prayer to you. For you are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with glad cries of deliverance. (Psalm 32:6-7)

Reflection: These passages highlight that those of us that accumulate wealth, power and wisdom only to show off or boast about it miss the point of God’s love and purpose.  He did not put these things here for our enjoyment.  He put them here and gave us the ability, and as we see from Genesis, power over them, so that we might glorify God.  We are to use these resources wisely and to good purpose.
