Lenten Post Day 9

Thursday, February 17

Deuteronomy 9:23-10:5, Hebrews 4:1-10, John 3:16-21

Q. 21. Who is the Redeemer of God’s elect?

A. The only Redeemer of God’s elect is the Lord Jesus Christ, who, being the eternal Son of God, became man, and so was, and, continueth to be, God and man, in two distinct natures, and one Person forever.

Q. 22. How did Christ, being the Son of God, become man?

A. Christ, the Son of God, became man, by taking to himself a true body and a reasonable soul, being conceived by the power of the Holy Ghost, in the womb of the Virgin Mary, and born of her, yet without sin.

Prayer: Lord you are my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? You are the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud, be gracious to me and answer me! O God of my salvation! (Psalm 27:1, 7, 9f)

Reflection: Salvation and rest with God only come through Jesus Christ.  Unfortunately, most of us reject this salvation (“light”) because we are too consumed by our worldly sin.  Even when we seek the truth, we are afraid, because of what e have done in the past.  However, the only way to truth is through Christ.
