Jeremiah 7:1-15, Romans 4:1-12, John 7:14-36
Q. 45. Which is the First Commandment?
A. The First Commandment is, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”
Q. 46. What is required in the First Commandment?
A. The First Commandment requireth us to know and acknowledge God to be the only true God, and our God ; and to worship and glorify him accordingly.
Prayer: Your hands have made and fashioned me; give me understanding that I may learn your commandments. Those who fear you shall see me and rejoice, because I have hoped in your word. I know, O Lord, that your judgments are right, and that in faithfulness you have humbled me. Let your steadfast love become my comfort according to your promise to your servant. Let your mercy come to me, that I may live; for your law is my delight. (Psalm 119:73-77)
Reflection: Those who seek righteousness through the law by saying what is right and wrong while they disobey the law themselves are hypocrites. We are to worship God not the rules of man.
